So it was time to cleanup my Macbook from all the crap I have loaded on there over the last year. So with my documents all backed up I decided to reload the OS. I believe I took the long run because I loaded Leopard 10.5 first the load Snow Leopard 10.6. I wanted to erase & install & I was not sure I could do that just loading SL. After finishing off my Mac installs I then needed to install Windows (for work). I had a license for Windows 7 64bit & since I have a 64bit Macbook I said why not. After Windows 7 was loaded I needed to add the drivers for the Macbook, so I insert the SL disc & run the setup tool…I got an error that stated 64bit was not supported & it would not run. Well off to Google because I know that 64bit worked fine on my Mac. After about 10 mins searching & downloading some bootcamp patch the Macbook drivers were loaded & working fine.
Total time working on this yesterday was 4 hrs to load & configure 3 operating systems. Glad it is done & out of the way.
I have finally spent time on setting up my dsl properly here at the house. I have a Netopia 3347 (that I got for free at my old work place) and an Apple Airport Extreme for my DSL setup. When I first setup the DSL I had the Airport Extreme in Bridge Mode and all the NAT and IPs were coming from the Netopia 3347. That is not my ideal setup as I have the Airport Extreme that has a Guest Wireless access and in Bridge Mode you don’t have that option. So this morning I went online and found out how to put the Netopia in Bridge Mode so I could have the NAT and IPs coming from the Airport Extreme and I could turn on Guest Wireless Access. Thanks to the following link I was able to get it setup and working the way I have wanted to – http://www.netopia.com/support/technotes/hardware/CQG_020.html
I was looking to buy a Bluetooth stereo headset but I was not sure which one to get at first. I was leaning toward a Motorola S9 but was not sure. I started looking on ebay & i saw a headset from a company I have never heard of, Rocketfish. Doing some research I found out it was a Best Buy brand. Well I have bought Dynex stuff in the past & was happy. So I looked up this headset & all the reviews seemed very good. Plus it was an open box on eBay for $24.99 & free shipping. Rocketfish RF-MAB2
Well the headset arrived on Friday & I used it on the train Monday & today. I very happy, music sound is good, bass could be better but sounds good enough.
So I was able to upgrade my iPhone this month so I thought this would be a great time to get the iPhone 3GS. So I unlocked my old iPhone with Blackra1n & Blacksn0w then sold it on eBay for more than enough to get a new iPhone. I decided to get a refurb iPhone 3GS for $149 (saved $50). The phone came last night & I spend 2.5 hrs erasing my old phone & getting it ready to ship along with setting up the new phone. The iPhone was setup & activated in 2 mins, then I ran into trouble. The phone came with 3.1 so iTunes told me there was an upgrade available, so I downloaded the firmware, it tried to upgrade buy I keep getting an error. After 4 tries I gave up & upgraded it on my other computer, this one went through the first try. Not sure what happened on the other computer but no worries, my new iPhone is up & running.
