Apple has posted the WWDC 2011 Keynote that was this morning. They have announced Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), releasing in July 2011. They have taken some cues from iOS for the new version of Mac OS X. It will be released on the Mac App Store only no more DVDs to buy and it will cost $29.99. Looks like Apple is trying to get more people converted to Macs from PCs, going from Windows Vista to Windows 7 costs were over $100 so I can see more people moving to Macs from PC because of this change in cost and there is 1 version no confusing what version do I need to buy.
They also announced iOS 5 the new version of the software running the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. iOS 5 looks awesome, just wish the iPhone would ship on Sprint since I had to move to Sprint from ATT because it was to costly. They have redone the Notifications (looks like Android but better UI).
And last iCloud, iCloud is Mobile Me redone and they have changed the price from $99 to FREE. They have rebuilt the Mobile Me icons from the ground up. iCloud stores your contents in the cloud and it just works. You take a photo on your iPhone and then use your iPad or your Macbook later in the day and it syncs to your devices. If it works as describes looks like it would be very cool. Syncs your contacts, calendars, photos, purchased iTunes music. And for an extra $25.99 a year you can have your entire iTunes library on iCloud also. Very much like Amazon Cloud Drive, and Google Music, the only difference iCloud will scan your library and match any songs so you don’t have to take weeks to upload your music to the other guys. Right now I am in the process of uploading my music to Google Music and after 1 1/2 weeks I have 4,000 of my 7,200 songs ready.
I am excited to see Lion, I don’t really know any developers so I can see the previews so will have to wait until July.
